AACR to honor Lewis C. Cantley with Princess Takamatsu Memorial Lectureship The American Association for Tumor Analysis will honor Lewis C. Cantley, PhD, with the ninth annual Princess Takamatsu Memorial Lectureship at the AACR Annual Getting together with 2015, to be kept in Philadelphia, April 18-22. Cantley, the Meyer Director of the Edward and Sandra Meyer Cancer Middle, the Margaret and Herman Sokol professor in oncology research, and a professor of cancer tumor biology in medication at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, is being acknowledged for his seminal contributions to the field of growth aspect and oncogene signaling.Thrombomodulin is a ubiquitous transmembrane endothelial-cell glycoprotein. It accelerates thrombin-mediated activation of proteins C,19 which down-regulates further thrombin generation, suppressing clot formation thereby. Activated protein C has antiinflammatory and cytoprotective properties also.20 Thrombomodulin improves thrombin-mediated activation of plasma procarboxypeptidase B , an inhibitor of fibrinolysis21 that also inactivates complement-derived anaphylatoxins C3a and C5a.22-24 Thrombomodulin, through its lectin-like domain, interferes with irritation by suppressing leukocyte trafficking and dampening complement activation.
